Bigger is Better by Ian Shires
I'm not sure how much really needs to be said about it - but we picked up a few new sponsors since the last Kick Start went out, and the Idol Prize Pool value has skyrocketed to right around $1000. It's easily going to be the biggest show we've done, as we have more people pre-registered already than ever before (in fact we're only 8 more teams away from having the same number of teams as we had in 2008 TOTAL, and we have 2 months left to get teams registered and in the show!). It's bigger than anything we've ever done, and as teams keep forming and coming in, and the prize pool keeps growing, it's only going to get more exciting. About a week away from the first projects posting...
But that's not ALL that's going on in the SPA... the new format for the magazine has really taken hold, and is being read by hundreds of people...closing in on 1000+ faster than we could hope for. The current issue has, in Editor Erik Hendrix's words: "interviews with Shannon Wheeler (Too Much Coffee Man), Sean Gordon Murphy (artist for Grant Morrison's new book, Joe the Barbarian), Jay Piscopo (Undersea Adventures of Capt'n Eli), a tribute to the late Spanish Wolfman, Paul Naschy, reviews of a bunch of indie / small press / self-published books, some original fiction, movie, book, and music reviews... and more... In the coming months, we have interviews planned with people such as Michael Avon Oeming, Mark Poulton (Koni Waves and a higher up at Arcana Comics), Stephen Lindsay (Jesus Hates Zombies), and the list keeps on coming...
