Happy Birthday! by Ian Shires
March marks Dimestore's anniversary and guess what, we're 24 years old now! We're going to spend the rest of this year, planning how to make our 25th year the celebration it should be. It seems like just yesterday I was in High School and made that first minicomic. I turned in 3 books to be printed today alone...it's been a great journey to here!
I wanted to send this out to make sure everyone knows the Small Press Idol round 1 deadline is starting to loom! We've been posting new projects on a very steady daily basis at the Idol site, and with 2 new registers in the past 2 days, we're just 3 more registers away from the next $100 jump in the prize pool. With 5 projects announced and not fully registered yet, and over 2 full weeks of what has traditionally been the period of time where we get the most out-of-the-blue new registrations...the most exciting year of Idol, is still seeing how far it can blow the lid off last year. So here is where it stands...
$800 cash payout
$378 worth of software
A Toy based on your project
90% of the profit of your work
It's the biggest prize pool we've ever had, or seen, in indy comics. Worth a shot? Do you have what it takes? The Minimum prize, if you make it past the judges, is your work published in a respected anthology title branded with the Idol name, something people will want to read far and wide! 17 projects have already made it to Round 2, but there's plenty of time to register and get into the show! We will be posting projects through the deadline of:
MARCH 22nd
