3 weeks ago, the day we were heading to the SPACE show in Columbus, Ohio, I made the mistake of picking up something I shouldn't have. The nerve I pinched didn't hurt right away. Instead, it waited till I got out of the van, at my parents house...to let me know I'd done something bad. And it didn't stop there. It slowly increased in level of ouch, even though I stayed optimistic it would be ok - I mean, how bad could it get? Found out when I woke up, and could barely stand up. Getting set up for the show - I had to leave to my family. Going to the bathroom was a 1 hour ordeal, and soon after I finally made it back, I was finally talked into going to an urgicare.

They were kind, and gave me some stuff that would help, and so I optimistically toughed out the rest of the day at the show, and spent the night unable to join the friends and creators I would normally have visited rooms, done jams with, etc. I wanted to try to salvage some show time Sunday, but - simply couldn't. I think I made it to the table and stayed 10 minutes before I broke down and admitted I simply couldn't sit there anymore.

I spent the next week basically unable to sit upright longer than 10-15 minutes at a time. I still managed to do Idol vote counts, reset polls, post results. Frankly it's all a blur to me. I normally revel in the vote periods, fascinated by the patterns and comments, etc. I was counting the minutes to go see a doc, and then counting the minutes till the resulting plan to help me, came around. And I have let EVERYTHING ELSE SLIDE. It's really killing me at how much stuff I would normally have done in the last month, has not been done. Moreover, I was ALREADY way behind on a lot of things, mostly due to the NORMAL pain I've had in my foot/leg/back slowing me down.

All I can say is I'm sorry - to anyone waiting for me to do something. I have no excuses, I only have my word that somehow, some way, I'm gonna get better, so I can catch up and get Dimestore back in action the way it should be.

So I got this shot in my hip last Friday. It got me able to walk...but it's kinda like a wet blanket on a bonfire...for the first couple days while the painkiller part of it was in effect, I explained it like this....hey, it's weak, but at least now I can feel the pain in my foot again. Cause before, it was over-riding everything. As that part wore off, I started getting hot flashes, cold flashes, and I have taken multiple naps probably due to the Percocet...it just knocks me out. The major part of the pain has not returned, but I can tell - it's there. It's waiting to break out in full flame, and it keeps me scared to move. Couple that with frequent pins and needles effect in my used-to-be "good leg"...I have talked my wife out of hospital trips a few times.

The show must go on. There's no way around - at least right now - my being the guy that processes all the idol stuff. Decisions about what to do and how to do it with other aspects of Dimestore will start being made soon. But I just want everyone out there to know: I'll walk through molten broken glass - to make sure Idol completes this year undamaged, and so that everyone that is counting on it to do what it does for so many, are not left hanging.
