Well, things seem to be slowing down on the sales front, which is kind of scary! Hopefully there's still enough time for everyone to strum up some more people before Thanksgiving. Doh! As of right now, Curse of the Vessel has a 15 copy / 8 people lead on Clown Town, who has a 75 copy/ 22 people lead over People that Melt in the Rain. Good morning all! We are a whopping onE day from the end of Small Press Idol 2010! Crazy, huh? Seems like the journey has been extremely long this year, filled with illness, excitement, triumph, and, for one project, the big prize... We've talked about it before, but don't consider any of the other contestants "losers" in the grand scheme of things. The contest really puts contestants through a gauntlet which, if they paid attention, taught them a lot about how the industry works, and how to put a comic book together. Behind the scenes, we try to keep things as transparent as possible for the contestants, so they can make their little mistakes within the confines of the contest, not when they're trying to strike out on their own. Pretty cool, right?

Well, without further ado, the standings haven't changed since the last update, but the numbers are crawling up... Be prepared for some more power plays the next day and whatever number of hours are left. Then we have to go through and verify things to make sure all of the numbers were counted properly, get the store numbers, etc...

The polls have closed! For the next couple of days, we will be going through the process of calculating in any mail in orders, combing through the data for anything that might fall through the cracks such as payments that weren't sent, double transactions (sometimes people hit that pesky payment button twice), getting the final numbers from Haven, etc...

Is there a winner? Well, based on the data below, COTV overtaken and has a STRONG lead over Clown Town after a day of several emails from stores and rallying the troops. I have to say, yesterdays sheer amount of transactions surprised the heck out of me. I'm talking transactions from the West through East Coast, several up in Canada, and even some across the pond. It's amazing how many people love the feeling of coming in at the zero hour and saving the day. 47 people jumped in the fun on the last day, more than any single day in the competition... heck, that's more than some weeks of round 4 this year!

So, a "loose" congratulations to COTV at the moment while we do our analysis on things, but don't get the party hats out yet, ok?

Congrats to all of the contestants who made it to Round 4 and from here we just need to take a deep breath... and wait. (Aren't we mean?!?!)

Well, that's it folks! The contest is over and Curse of the Vessel is officially the winner of Small Press Idol 2010.
