Here we are at Round 4! It's been a wild ride, so go right to it...the final version of the #0 cover: [ image disabled ]
To vote for this project: Click the cover image, order a copy. That's it! The shopping cart should lead you through everything simple and easy, your Log On, if you have logged on at Dimestore, is your e-mail address and same password as you use here. If it doesn't work, don't worry, just check out and it should automatically sync with your account here after. It's been tested both ways, and works fine. Any problems checking out, just ask us!
Vote counting: We count each individual person that votes as one vote, no matter how many copies they order. If you want multiple copies - that's fine. We will be showing a ally of total copies as well as total votes, and when I make my decision on the winner, I will be considering BOTH numbers. There is no "veto" this round, but I will be having a discussion with the judges and decide the winner myself, based on multiple factors played out throughout the contest. I will be posting daily standings through the AUGUST 1st at 11:59:59 PM Eastern time Deadline for voting.
So! Feel free to post comments about the project! Watch for standings and any surprises the creators have set up for Round 4, right here! Ian Shires, CEO P.O. Box 214 Madison, OH 44057
Off to an interesting start, I think I'll just toss the numbers out there, then I have to get to work on an issue with overseas order postage calculations...fun!!

The reality of the Round 4 starts to set in right about now. People start to see how much easier it is to get people to vote yes, that's a great project, than it is to get them to say, yes, I want a copy of it printed for my collection. With over a week left in the voting period, only one thing is certain right now: One project will win. Will it be current leader, Warpath, leading the charge? Will it be this year's "underdog" surprise, Spud, who rises to claim it's place? Or, how about the dark horse project, Tokyo Gonzo, which the judges all got behind to send to Round 4? Whose project is going to claim the title this year? We will see!

Slow sales, but slow and steady evening out of the top 2 projects...we're going to go into this upcoming Final Week of Round 4 with a huge challenge to the projects: How do you translate all those VOTES you got in the last 2 rounds, into supportive fans for your projects future? How will it all turn out? We can't even guess!

Welcome to Monday folks, just 5 more days of open voting time (So everyone knows: We will allow a week after voting for Mail-In orders to show up here to be converted from the Mail in slot to the Vote slot...if there are enough mail-ins to make a difference in the final standings - which it did last year). It should be an interesting week!

Thank you for saying so, sir.....I can tell you it's not from lack of trying! We've got all kinds of lines in the water, but not many bites yet. You think the Western thing is killing us?

good comics transcend genre and will sell regardless. Westerns are making inroads all over so it has nothing to do with that at all. you just have to get out there and drum up that support. keep it going and you'll be surprized at the response. Blog l Myspace l Comicspace l CAG

Warpath gets their drums going and lays down a solid day's advance, as the other projects continue to struggle to get rolling. With just 3 days (today, tomorrow, and Friday) left to vote...does anyone have the power to catch Warpath? We shall see!

I'm not an expert enough about genres to determine if that's the case here. I think any high quality artwork coupled with a strong storyline holds promise for building a strong fan base and imminent high sales if the marketing is right. Keep at it.

I disagree in a certain level. There's many good projects out there, with exceptional artwork, so the readers can get too picky at times. And if you add personal favorites to it, at the end it's all about the genre: every genre has his own audience, and that's it's sales basic pool. U may get a few other "open-minded" readers to buy your project, but they arent so many to get accounted for.
For example, I want to believe that I am pretty open-minded as a reader. I comedy and superheroes, but when a good mystery, or D&G comic appear, I'll give it a try, and even be its "customer". That's how I discovered Madman, TMCM, Mister X, Mister Blank, The One, and so on. BUT, I will never even consider buying a zombie comic, a war or a western one, and of course, Manga are a nono. It's just not my thing, and it never will be, even if the artwork is by Dave Ross (big fan here )
It's subjective to personal taste. But some fans of specific genres have been known to venture out of their interests to explore different themes. I was one of them and I'm sure there are many, many others out there who are the same.
Again, if the marketing is well executed and the comic in question can sell itself I have every confidence that it can tap into the traditional marketshare, get people to explore what this has to offer within the power of suspension of disbelief.
